Istanbul roads: residents report potholes and open trenches, November 2026

What happened
Daily Sabah, with Anadolu Agency, reported on 2 November 2026 that residents and shopkeepers in districts including Büyükçekmece, Arnavutköy, Avcılar, Esenler, Küçükçekmece, Şişli and Esenyurt described potholes and unfinished road works. A neighborhood head in Küçükçekmece said trenches on one street had been open for five to six days. The report quotes residents and does not include a response from the municipality or highway authorities.
What it means for buyers
Buyers comparing districts can treat this as resident testimony about day-to-day travel, not a measured survey; conditions vary street by street and change as works finish, so a visit at rush hour shows more than one article.

CBRT blog study: about 3,000 firms held 116 billion lira in liquidated funds

What happened
Hürriyet Daily News reported on 4 November 2026 on a blog analysis by the CBRT, the Turkish monetary authority. The Capital Markets Board placed certain investment funds into liquidation on 17 September 2026. As of 15 September 2026, about 3,000 non-financial companies held a combined 116 billion lira in those funds, 57 billion lira of it in money market funds. The study puts the affected firms at about 1.2% of real-sector assets and 0.9% of outstanding commercial loans, as of 15 September 2026.
What it means for buyers
Buyers watching Türkiye's financial conditions can read this as the CBRT's own assessment of a limited corporate exposure; it covers fund holdings on one date and does not describe the property market.
